Capturing our Coast is a national marine citizen science project that collates data on the abundance and distribution of marine intertidal species, and data from experimental investigations. CoastXplore is an app from the Capturing our Coast project which allows volunteers to complete a survey on activity around the coastal regions of the united kingdom. Users can answer questions about significant features of the landscape, as well as the activities taking place there (by themselves or others around them).
What is the aim of this app?
The aim is to collect information on how we use our coastlines. We know types of activities that occur on our coast, such as sea angling and surfing, but we dont have much information on the number of people doing each activity. This information is important for the conservation and management of our coastline. This is where we need your help. When you are next by the coast, get out your phone and complete a quick 5 minute survey.
What happens to the information I submit?
The information that you submit will be anonymously added to a national database. It can be accessed by organisations who look after our coast, to inform decisions they make about our coastlines management.
